Turkmen judoka Hekim Agamammedov won a bronze medal at the Grand Slam tournament "Tokyo Grand Slam-2023" in Tokyo for the first time in the history of Turkmen sports. This is reported by the Internet publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".
The tournament was held over two days, with a prize fund of $154,000 and 506 athletes from 84 countries competing for it. There were 14 sets of medals in seven women's and seven men's weight categories.
Turkmenistan was represented by 8 athletes at the tournament. Hekim won a bronze medal in the men's weight category up to 66 kg. In this category, 48 athletes from 35 countries competed for medals.
Athlete Hekim Agamammedov, a 24-year-old serviceman of military unit No. 1001 named after Myalikguli Berdimuhamedov of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan, won 5 victories on his way to the bronze medal of the tournament.
