Turkmen weightlifter wins three silver medals at IWF Grand Prix

Turkmen athlete Gaigysyz Torayev won three silver medals in snatch, jerk and total of the two events at the qualifying Olympic tournament of the International Weightlifting Federation Grand Prix. This was reported by the Internet publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".

Thirteen athletes competed with 19-year-old Torayev for medals in the weight category up to 81 kg. The Turkmen athlete realized three out of six attempts, having gained 319 kg, including 144 kg in snatch and 175 kg in jerk. Thus, Gaigysyz beat the Canadian athlete by 6 kg and 39 kg behind the gold medalist, an athlete from Indonesia.

Two more athletes from Turkmenistan came to the tournament. Shatlyk Shohradov, 23, competes in the men's category up to 89 kg, and Polina Gurieva fights for medals in the women's category up to 81 kg.

The tournament in Havana will run until June 18 this year.
