Ashgabat, July 24 - Arzuw.news. A meeting to discuss national plans for the implementation of the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol, which was adopted in 2016 and ratified by Turkmenistan in 2020, was held at the Archabil Hotel. This is reported by the publication Turkmenistan: Golden Age.
The event was supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the representative of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. The organizer was the Ozone Centre under the Ministry of Environment Protection.
The meeting was attended by representatives of various ministries, state concerns "Turkmengaz" and "Turkmenneft", specialized higher educational institutions, as well as enterprises and business circles whose activities are related to refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
The participants were presented with projects and action plan to support the country's climate agenda. Implementation of the Kigali Amendment was identified as one of the key areas of these activities.
Special attention was paid to the issue of transition from ozone-depleting substances to a new generation of refrigerants that are neutral to the ozone layer and climate. Participants emphasized the importance of certification and licensing of technicians to work with new refrigerants, including naturally flammable and toxic substances.
On the basis of the Yagshigeldy Kakaev International University of Oil and Gas, a specialized training center has been established, equipped with working models of equipment for debugging and testing freons.
As a result of the meeting, specific deadlines were set for the collection of data necessary for planning the modernization of the Turkmen refrigeration market and preparation of reporting on international ozone agreements.
