A new agro-project supported by FAO was presented in Ashgabat

A seminar dedicated to the launch of a new two-year project on increasing land productivity was held in the capital of Turkmenistan. The event was organized with the participation of scientific and technical units of the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan with the expert support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). This is reported by the Internet edition "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".

One of the agricultural plots in Mary province has been selected as a pilot site for the project, where preparatory work has already started. The project plans a set of agro-technical activities, including soil analysis, crop monitoring and introduction of methods to increase yields.

The project implementation program provides for trainings and demonstration "field days" for farmers. Work with farmers will be carried out through "farmer schools" already tested in the country, established within the framework of a long-standing partnership between FAO and the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan.

The project will result in a list of recommendations on effective land use practices adapted to local conditions.
