Uniting collective efforts for progress and sustainable development

Avaza, August 7 - Arzuw.news. The new International Day for the Dissemination of Information on the Special Needs of Landlocked Developing Countries, proclaimed by a UN General Assembly resolution last month, was celebrated for the first time yesterday. This was reported by the State Information Agency of Turkmenistan.

On the occasion of the remarkable event, a special briefing within the framework of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries was held in Avaza National Tourist Zone.

UN Under-Secretary-General Rabab Fatima emphasized the importance of drawing attention to the special needs and challenges of landlocked developing countries, expressing confidence in the effectiveness of the Awazi Action Agenda.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov called the day a call to action to address the problems of geographical remoteness of landlocked countries. He noted that Turkmenistan consistently initiates transit cooperation, regional integration and multimodal transport connectivity as the basis for sustainable development.

The year 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the United Nations and the 30th anniversary of international recognition of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality status.

Participants in the briefing called for the new international day to be used to forge closer cooperation and provide landlocked developing countries with the necessary international support and investment. The Third UN Conference has become an effective dialog platform for discussing topical issues and developing concrete joint solutions.
