Turkmen-Iraq memorandum on gas supply signed in Baghdad

On October 6, Baghdad hosted the signing of a joint memorandum of understanding on natural gas supplies between Turkmenistan and Iraq with the participation of Turkmengaz head Maksat Babayev and Iraqi Minister of Electricity Ziad Ali Fadel. This is reported on the website of Centralasia.news.

It was noted during the ceremony that Turkmen gas is necessary to meet the needs of Iraqi power plants.

In addition, Maksat Babayev held talks with Deputy Head of the Iraqi Government on Energy Issues, Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani on the participation of Turkmen companies in investment projects in Iraq. Earlier, during the visit of the Iraqi delegation to Ashgabat, technical, financial and commercial terms of Turkmen gas supply to Iraq under the swap scheme via Iran were agreed upon.
