Yesterday the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a meeting of the Governmental Commission on Turkmenistan's accession to the WTO under the leadership of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. The meeting was attended by representatives of ministries and state agencies responsible for this topic.
The participants discussed key issues that relate to cooperation with the WTO. In particular, they considered the prospects for intensifying relations with the organization. After reviewing last year's report provided by the Commission, the sides advocated for strengthening the integration process towards obtaining observer status for Turkmenistan in the WTO. The attendees also had the opportunity to study the Trade and Economic Policy Review of Turkmenistan, compiled by the WTO in the format of approved procedures.
Recall that the composition of the WTO Commission was approved by the head of the country on July 15 last year.
Turkmenistan pursues a policy of bringing its trade legislation and procedures in line with the requirements of the WTO. For the country to join this organization means the opening of new horizons in the field of competitive industries. For example, we are talking about hydrocarbon resources.
