Ylym Publishing House has released a scientific monograph by Doctor of Historical Sciences Ejegul Muradova "South-Western Turkmenistan in the Early Iron Age", which summarizes many years of archaeological research in Balkan velayat. Arzuw.news reports with reference to the source.

The scientific work covers the period of transition from the Bronze Age to the Iron Age, dating from the end of the 2nd to the first half of the 1st millennium BC. The study is based on archaeological materials collected on the Misrian plain in the area of ancient Dehistan.

A special place in the monograph is given to the formation of iron metallurgy in the region. The author notes that ironworking originated in South Kopetdagh due to natural deposits of hematite. Archaeological data testify to the gradual mastering of iron technologies and their spread from the IX to VI century BC.

The paper analyzes the links between sedentary and nomadic populations that ensured cultural integration of the region. A separate chapter is devoted to the formation of regional culture in the Sumbar and Chandir valleys, as well as in the Misrian and Chat plains.

According to the researcher's conclusion, Dehistan became the key center of cultural and ethnic consolidation of the Caspian region during the considered historical period.

The monograph is published in Turkmen and Russian languages with an annotation in English. The book is addressed to both specialists-archaeologists and a wide audience interested in the ancient history of Turkmenistan.
