Pandemic preparedness discussed in Turkmenistan

The third meeting of the National Interagency Coordination Committee on implementation of the "One Health" approach with the support of the country office of the World Health Organization was held in Ashgabat on August 12. Arzuw.news reports citing a source.

The meeting was held at the Center for Public Health and Nutrition of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan. The event was attended by representatives of more than 25 national institutions, including the Ministries of Finance and Economy, Health, Agriculture, Environment and Justice.

Participants discussed the implementation of the project "Prevention, Preparedness and Response to Pandemics under the One Health Initiative in Central Asia, in Turkmenistan". The meeting summarized the results of work for the first half of 2025 and identified strategic priorities to strengthen preparedness for future pandemics.

The One Health approach is implemented in three key areas: human health, animal health and environmental protection. The initiative aims to create a sustainable and unified public health system through intersectoral cooperation.

International partners, including the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, reaffirmed support for Turkmenistan's leadership on regional health security issues.
