In Turkmenistan, sands have been reinforced along the highway from Dashoguz to the airport

Along the highway from Dashoguz to the international airport, sand reinforcement works have been carried out. This was reported by the TurkmenPortal online publication.

Saxaul was planted and reed cages were installed along the highway to prevent sand drifting into the roadbed. These activities are carried out as part of measures to adapt to the effects of climate change, improve degraded lands, green the territory, prevent dust and salt transport, and enrich local flora and fauna.

The combined reinforcement method is more cost-effective and contributes to safer vehicular traffic by strengthening the soil and protecting the roadway from sand ingress. Reed barriers reduce the amount of sand blowing out and can hold up to one cubic meter of sandy material.
