Turkmenistan and Ukraine intend to conclude a number of agreements in the near future. To this end, the sides are preparing for the next, fifth meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation in Economic, Cultural and Humanitarian spheres. Based on the results of the meeting, bilateral documents reflecting the key priorities of the Turkmen-Ukrainian partnership are expected to be signed this year. Among the joint initiatives is Ukraine's participation in the formation of a logistics hub in Turkmenistan.

It is noted that the role of Turkmenistan is assigned by the Ukrainian side as one of the leading partners in the Central Asian region.

According to statistics, Turkmen-Ukrainian trade was $85.5 million in 2020, including exports of $56.1 million (+2%) and imports of $29.4 million.

During the reporting period, oil and oil products, mineral fuel - $8.04 million (54.3% total imports), plastics and polymers - $2.05 million (13.8%), cotton - $1.2 million (8.4%) were imported to Ukraine from Turkmenistan.

Ukraine for the same period supplied to Turkmenistan construction of ferrous metals - $ 10.5 million (29.1%), boilers and engineering products - $3.9 million (10.7%), products of pharmaceutical industry - $3.3 million (9%). Despite the fact that the development of bilateral trade operations last year was hampered by the global pandemic, Ukraine continued to increase trade turnover with Turkmenistan. Thus, the surplus growth for the Ukrainian side amounted to 68.2% ($ 21.4 million). There was an increase in exports of meat and other food products, which amounted to $ 3.6 million.
