The number of Turkmen in Russia has increased

The number of Turkmens permanently residing in Russia increased by 4,453 people, or 12.1%. This is evidenced by the census data published by the Federal State Statistics Service of Russia.
In 2010, 36,885 people declared themselves as Turkmen, and in 2021 - 41,338.
23,638 Turkmen belong to the urban population (57.2%) and 17,700 to the rural population (42.8%). Most of the rural Turkmens are Turkmens of Astrakhan and Stavropol, who have lived in Russia for almost 4 centuries.
The Turkmen language was named as the native language by 35,584 people. Of these, 19,819 people among the urban population and 15,765 among the rural population.
The population of the whole of Russia has also increased - in 10 years there were 4.3 million more people in the country. There are currently about 147.2 million people permanently living in Russia.
The All-Russian Population Census took place from October 15 to November 14, 2021 in the online format.
