Employees of the Institute of Seismology and Atmospheric Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan have completed the development of a new map of seismic microzonation of Ashgabat. This is reported on the website centralasia.news.
For this purpose, the Turkmen delegation visited Japan to study its experience in this field. The trip was organized by UNDP within the framework of the project on integrated seismological hazard assessment for Ashgabat.
To develop a new seismological microzonation map, the experts applied the latest methods, which are also used in the territory of Arkadag city.
In addition, Turkmenistan is implementing the project "Improvement of seismological observation system in and around Ashgabat city" jointly with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency.
