Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan put forward an initiative during a forum in Kazan

During his speech at the meeting of the Strategic Vision Group "Russia - Islamic World" in Kazan, the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov put forward a proposal to create an "Islamic Initiative for Peace, Mutual Understanding and Trust". This is reported by the Internet publication "TurkmenPortal".

This initiative incorporates Islamic tenets of peace, goodness and justice. The Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan called for maximum assistance in de-escalating conflicts, returning to negotiations and fostering a culture of consensus.

A proposal was made to consider the initiative by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other authoritative structures with its subsequent promotion during the UNGA. The National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that the initiative would be open for all countries to join.
