Tajikistan paves a new route to Europe through Turkmenistan

Tajikistan is planning a large-scale modernization of its transport infrastructure. Transport Minister Azim Ibrohim gave a number of important instructions aimed at improving freight and passenger transportation, as well as strengthening international ties. This is reported by the publication "Türkmenistan Habarlar Portaly“.

Key to the plan is the organization of a pilot rail route along a multimodal corridor connecting China, Central Asia, Iran, Türkiye and Europe. The move is designed to significantly improve transportation links between Asia and Europe, opening up new opportunities for trade and economic cooperation.

To realize this ambitious project, the minister instructed to renew the rolling stock, including cars and locomotives. In addition, the construction of new transit rail lines is planned, which should significantly expand the country's international transportation capabilities.

Special attention is paid to the digitalization of the transport sector. This direction is seen as key to improving the efficiency and competitiveness of the Tajik transport sector in the international market.

An important part of the plan is the creation of modern logistics centers. Among them, the project related to the Iranian port of Chabahar stands out, indicating Tajikistan's desire to expand its transportation capabilities beyond land routes.

It is worth noting that these initiatives are in line with the agreements reached at the highest level. In particular, during the meeting of the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan in May last year, the transport sector was identified as a priority area of bilateral cooperation.

The implementation of these plans can significantly strengthen Tajikistan's position as an important link in international transport corridors connecting East and West. This not only opens up new economic prospects for the country, but also contributes to strengthening regional cooperation in Central Asia.
