The prestigious tournament "Gothia Special Olympics Trophy" ended with great success for the team of the National Center of Special Olympics of Turkmenistan on mini-football - the athletes won silver medals and the title of vice-champions of the tournament. The "Gothia Special Olympics Trophy" tournament is part of the "Gothia Cup" and was established to support athletes with intellectual disabilities. The Turkmen national team included 5 players from Balkan velayat, 3 from Mary velayat and 2 athletes from Ashgabat.
The athletes were trained by Gurbantagan Ilyasov, a physical education teacher of Balkan velayat, and Nurberdyev Rejep, an honored coach of Turkmenistan, a coach of sports school No. 11 of Ashgabat.
According to the results of the test matches, Turkmen athletes won the first place and entered the final. The decisive match of the tournament ended for the Turkmen national team with the score 2:1 in favor of the rivals from Indonesia.
