Turkmen-Iranian relations reach a new level

The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian within the framework of his working visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran. This is reported by the Internet edition Vestiabad.

During the meeting, the Iranian president presented Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the book translated into Farsi "Mother Worship - Worship of the Sacred". This work, written by Hero-Arkadag, tells about the life path of Ogulabat eje and emphasizes the importance of patriotism and upbringing of worthy citizens in the Turkmen mentality.

- Respect for parents is an aboriginal tradition of the Turkmen people. This is described in detail in my work "Mother Worship - Worship of the Shrine", which is a high example of honoring our mothers," Hero-Arkadag said.

Discussing the state and prospects for strengthening the partnership, the sides highlighted several key areas, including the trade and economic sphere.

In particular, the interlocutors discussed the gas sector, where Turkmenistan and Iran have been cooperating for many years. It was noted that in the near future Turkmen natural gas will be exported to the Republic of Iraq under the SWAP scheme. Emphasizing that measures are being taken to increase the volume of supplies of "blue" fuel to Iran up to 40 billion cubic meters per year, Hero Arkadag proposed to implement a number of projects jointly with Iranian companies.

The electricity sector was named as another important area. It was noted that Turkmen electricity is already supplied to Iran along the routes Balkanabat-Gonbat and Shatlyk-Sarakhs. Preliminary work is underway with Iranian companies on the project of the Turkmen part of the Mary-Mashhad power transmission line.

The transportation sphere was also discussed as a key area. The sides expressed readiness to intensify cooperation in road construction, including the road project from the Turkmen-Iranian border to the cities of Etrek and Gumdag.

Chairman Khalk Maslakhaty proposed to start joint actions and noted the existence of all necessary conditions for this. Hero-Arkadagh also spoke in favor of organizing an official visit of the President of Iran to Turkmenistan to discuss new projects.

The talks also touched upon topical issues of regional and international politics of mutual interest for both countries.

At the end of the meeting, Hero Arkadag invited the Iranian President to participate in the International Forum of Heads of State and Government in honor of the 300th anniversary of Makhtumkuli Fraghi to be held in Ashgabat on October 11, 2024.

We would like to add that as a result of the negotiations the parties signatures a number of bilateral documents on further expansion of interstate relations in various spheres.
