Yesterday, a preparatory event for the Seventh Consultative Meeting of Heads of State of Central Asia under the chairmanship of the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was held in the Congress Center of the National Tourist Zone "Avaza". This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Presidents of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev, Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Adylbek Kasymaliyev participated in the forum.
The event was an important preparatory stage for the main meeting scheduled for November this year in Tashkent. The President of Uzbekistan informed the participants about plans to hold an Interparliamentary Forum, meetings of the Ministers of Defense, Trade and Transport, as well as cultural and humanitarian events before the end of the year.
Hero-Arkadag emphasized the necessity of uniting efforts of Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan to solve urgent environmental problems of the region. Among them, he emphasized the shoaling of the Caspian Sea, desertification processes, the Aral Sea problem and melting of glaciers.
During the ceremony, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev was awarded the Order of Turkmenistan "Hyzmatdaşlygy ösdürmäge goşandy üçin" ("For Contribution to Development of Cooperation") in accordance with the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan.
At the end of the official part, the Heads of State headed to the venue of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.
