Ashgabat to be declared CIS city of sporting opportunities

On May 15, experts from CIS countries and the CIS Executive Committee took part in a meeting to finalize and agree on a draft decision of the CIS Council of Heads of Government on declaring Ashgabat a city of new sports opportunities for the Commonwealth. This is reported by Centralasia.news.

The participants of the meeting represented by representatives of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan unanimously decided to agree and further send to the governments of the CIS countries the materials and the draft decision, which will be considered on May 24 in Ashgabat during the regular meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government.

Earlier, in 2022, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov put forward a proposal to hold the Friendship Games under the auspices of the CIS Council and expressed Ashgabat's readiness to host the first Friendship Games.
