The 14th World Kurash Wrestling Championship kicked off today in Ashgabat, which will be held in the Olympic City of the Turkmen capital from November 23 to 28 this year. This was reported by the state news agency "Turkmenistan Today".
In order to prepare for the World Kurash Championship, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a Decree on July 12, 2023, approving the composition of the Organizing Committee. The Kurash Championship in Ashgabat will be the most massive in history - 490 participants from 53 countries, including 243 athletes, have registered for the event. The number of registered participants significantly exceeds their number in other past World Kurash Championships.
Within the framework of the championship 15 sets of medals will be played, including seven men's and eight women's weight categories. The competitions will be held in the martial arts sports complex of the Olympic Campus in Ashgabat.
