On April 11 there was an online meeting between representatives of diplomatic universities of Moscow and Ashgabat. The event was timed to the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic partnership between the two countries.
MGIMO Rector A. Torkunov made an opening speech. In his speech he recalled his first visits to the country and his experience in establishing diplomatic contacts with Turkmenistan.
The head of the university emphasized that it was then that the agreements between MGIMO MFA of Russia and IMO MFA of Turkmenistan were signed. These agreements are being systematically implemented to this day, but the potential of this cooperation is far from exhausted.
Torkunov said that currently 17 Turkmen students study at MGIMO. He expressed hope that their number would increase in the near future.
The rector also shared the positive experience of diplomatic partnership with Uzbekistan in education.
