Delegations of Turkmenistan and the European Union held an online meeting on the rule of law program

A delegation from Turkmenistan participated in an online meeting organized by the European Union. The main topic of the First Steering Meeting was the consideration of the Rule of Law Program in the Central Asian region. Delegates from Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan also took part in the event.

The development of the program was carried out in the framework of cooperation between the European Union and the Council of Europe. Four years from 2020 to 2023 have been set aside for its implementation in the region. It consists of three key components:

  • Promoting the formation of a common legal framework between Europe and the Central Asian region, and intensifying human rights activities;
  • support in counteracting economic offenses;
  • Supporting the effective performance by government agencies and bodies of their core functions.

Conference participants included delegates and officials from the European Union and the Council of Europe, high-ranking officials from the Central Asian region

During the online meeting, the results of the Program over the past year and a half since its launch were discussed. The parties discussed plans and opportunities for joint activities for the next period of its implementation, up to 2023.

The leading method of action in implementing the project's objectives is to help bring about change. In doing so, this activity is based on taking into account the diversity and needs of each individual state.
