Hero of Turkmenistan cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko took command of the ISS

Hero of Turkmenistan, Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko has taken over the command of the International Space Station from Danish cosmonaut Andreas Mogensen. This was reported by the TurkmenPortal online publication.

Oleg Kononenko, a native of Turkmenistan, will command the ISS until the end of September 2024, becoming the world record holder in terms of total time spent in space. The world record by the end of the mission on the International Space Station will be 1,110 days.

Earlier, the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated Oleg Kononenko on setting the world record. In his congratulatory message, he noted the determination and firmness of will of the outstanding cosmonaut. Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov wished Oleg Kononenko new successes in his profession.
