A seminar on the role of the Ombudsman in the protection of human rights was held at the Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute named after S. Seidi. This was reported by the Internet publication "Westiabad."
UNDP provided assistance in organizing the event. The participants were representatives of the Office of the Ombudsman for Human Rights, Velayat prosecutor's office, court, khakimlik, specialized institutions, political parties, public organizations, mass media, as well as faculty and students of the university.
The seminar examined successful international experience in the area of cooperation between national and judicial bodies in the field of human rights. The experience of Turkmenistan in implementing international humanitarian law and protecting the rights of women and children was presented.
Turkmenistan currently favors close international cooperation in the field of human rights and continues to improve its domestic legislation.
