Turkmenistan has completed a pilot program of family counseling, which was conducted in the country for 6 months. This program was organized by USAID and UNFPA. This is reported on the official website of the U.S. Embassy in Turkmenistan.
During six months, public organizations supported by the international Agency and the UN Population Fund conducted trainings for more than two hundred young families of Turkmenistan. The events were held in Ashgabat, Turkmenabat and Mary.
The main topics of the trainings were positive gender norms, constructive resolution of conflict situations within the family, and reproductive rights. Attention was paid to the prevention of domestic violence and the formation of harmonious relationships between spouses.
