Abundance of agricultural products contributes to significant price reductions

The Lebap velayat of Turkmenistan has seen an unprecedented growth in the production of vegetables, fruits and other vitamin products. All farms in the region produced 53,300 tons of vegetables, 79,500 tons of potatoes, 14,700 tons of fruits and berries and more than 15,000 tons of melons in six months. This means that 12 percent more vegetables were produced than in the same period last year.

The abundance of agricultural products contributed to a significant reduction in retail prices, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper noted. For example, buyers paid more than 28 percent less for apples than in May this year. Onions were offered for sale at a price 25 percent cheaper than a month earlier.

Tomatoes became cheaper by more than 19.5 percent, cucumbers - by 19 percent, and potatoes - by almost 15 percent. There is also a decrease in prices for eggs, beans, rice and some other food products of agricultural production.
