Turkmen tandem of chess players Amanmukhammed Khommadov and Lala Shokhradova took the honorable second place in the Junior Asian Championship. This is reported by Orient news.
The competition was held among mixed doubles under 18 years old. A total of 42 athletes from 21 countries of the Asian continent took part in the competition. The games were held in online format in the period from April 28 to 30 this year.
In the sum of points, the Turkmen chess players scored 15 points out of 18 possible, 1 point behind the favorites from Indonesia. The team from the Philippines rounded out the top three winners with 13 points.
Athletes from Turkmenistan also performed well in the individual competition.
Amanmukhammed Khommadov was the second among boys, Lala Shohradova, the reigning champion of Turkmenistan, also took the second place, losing only half a point to the winner.
