The Khalk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan will cease its activities. This was reported today by the news program "Vatan" of Turkmen television after a joint session of both chambers of parliament.
Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov came up with this initiative at the meeting.
Таким образом представительный орган, осуществляющий законодательную власть теперь будет состоять из одной палаты – Меджлиса, а Халк Маслахаты Туркменистана будет высшим представительным органом народной власти.
Speakers at the meeting supported the suspension of the Khalk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan and the proposal to transform the parliament into a unicameral structure.
