Parliamentarians of Turkmenistan took part in the Inter-Parliamentary Union seminar

A delegation of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan took part in a seminar organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), during which the main directions of inter-parliamentary diplomacy were discussed. The event, which began on March 22, was held via videoconference and lasted for five days.

The forum was devoted to consideration of the key directions of the union's activity, peculiarities of its participation in the work of the UN General Assembly as an observer. The parties to the seminar shared their views on such issues as the role of legislative bodies in protecting human rights and freedoms, implementation of international legal norms in the realities of national legislation, strengthening the influence of the inter-parliamentary friendly group to improve parliamentary diplomacy. Those present at the forum also touched upon the topics of modern technologies and digitalization.

The seminar participants were also briefed on the structure of the IPU, which began its activities in 1889. The participants were briefed on the specifics of the work of the Union's standing committees, explained how the work of its Assembly is organized, and demonstrated the dynamics of the Union's partnership with the United Nations.

In summarizing the seminar, the participants expressed their desire to continue their mutual cooperation, beneficial and useful for all.
