The Astrakhan State Medical University (ASMU) hosted a meeting of Turkmenistan's Consul in Astrakhan (Russia) Guich Garayev with the university's rector Olga Bashkina, during which they discussed the prospects of partnership with the Medical University of Turkmenistan.
About 200 Turkmen citizens currently study in this Russian university. The main areas of cooperation considered by the parties were staff training and academic exchanges. Seizing the opportunity, the head of the university congratulated the Turkmen nation on the 30th anniversary of independence.
The participants of the meeting also touched upon the Memorandum of Cooperation, which was signed in November 2019. In addition to Astrakhan State Medical University, it was signed by the State Medical University of Turkmenistan named after M. Garryev. The document defines the interaction between these universities in the educational sphere and in the field of health care. The parties confirmed their mutual desire to increase interaction based on the above-mentioned document.
During the event, the topic of voluntary vaccination of citizens of Turkmenistan was also discussed. O. Bashkina promised to assist in solving this issue.
After visiting the university, the consul also spoke with the students of the ASMU who had come here from Turkmenistan to receive their education. The diplomat gave answers to questions of most interest to Turkmen students.
