Representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan participated in the first meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly held in the video mode. The participants were 270 delegates representing the parliaments of 57 countries.
The participants exchanged views on a wide range of issues. For example, in the course of the current online talks, they considered steps to eliminate the consequences of COVID-19 not only in the global economy, but also in the environment, activities to strengthen peace and security, the prevention of new clashes, and the resolution of existing ones. The issue of gender equality was also touched upon - the sides discussed steps to increase women's rights in the economy. A number of other issues of global significance were also discussed.
These online conversations also made it possible to discuss the report by the Secretary General of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Robert Montella. In it, he summarizes the results of the Assembly's work over the past year and outlines plans for the coming year.
