As a result of the 89th meeting of the CIS Economic Council, which was held in the video format, 12 documents were approved. Turkmenistan, along with other CIS member states, also took part in the event. The agenda covered a number of issues related to various areas of cooperation within the CIS. Actions to reduce the negative impact of the global pandemic were not ignored either.
Representatives of the Turkmen side noted that Turkmenistan, being a neutral country, pursues a constructive foreign policy. Therefore, the country aims for a fruitful bilateral and multilateral partnership. The agenda of the current meeting includes issues of particular relevance today. This also applies to the partnership of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States in the economic sphere.
As we know, the global economy will go through difficult times, so now it is necessary to pay considerable attention to the development of joint effective measures aimed at minimizing the manifestations of the crisis, as well as to use all available resources to enhance cooperation.
The participants of the meeting discussed draft agreements on cooperation in the sphere of employment of the population of the Commonwealth member states and on cooperation in the sphere of sanitary protection of the territories. They also considered a medium-term plan of joint activities to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
In total, as a result of the last meeting 12 documents were approved. The key ones were related to joint activities on exploration, protection and subsoil use, as well as on interaction of infrastructures guided by GLONASS signals - it was noted that in the future it is planned to form a high-precision Navigation Service System.
