According to ADB forecast Turkmenistan may become the leader of economic growth in Central Asia

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has presented an optimistic forecast of GDP growth in Turkmenistan in 2023 in its report Asian Development Outlook-2023. This is reported on ADB's official website adb.org.

According to ADB's forecast, Turkmenistan's gross domestic product will be 6.5% at the end of this year, compared to 6.2% in 2022 and 5% in 2021. In accordance with the forecasts on this indicator Turkmenistan overtakes the countries of Central Asia. Thus, GDP growth in the current year is projected by ADB to be 3.2% in Kazakhstan, 4.5% in Kyrgyzstan, 5.5% in Tajikistan, and 5% in Uzbekistan.

The country's GDP growth is attributed to increased production and export of hydrocarbons, which has contributed to the recovery and strengthening of the economy. Turkmenistan supplies gas to China, Russia, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. Turkmen oil products, textiles, mineral fertilizers and foodstuffs are also widely represented on the international market.
