On January 30, 2023, Gulshat Mammedova, Chairman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, had a bilateral meeting with Vyacheslav Volodin, head of the Russian delegation. During the meeting, the sides discussed current issues of inter-parliamentary cooperation. This was reported by the Russian news agency TASS.
Gulshat Mammedova invited Russian delegates to participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections of Turkmenistan as observers. Parliamentary elections are scheduled for March 26.
Vyacheslav Volodin confirmed that the State Duma will send its representatives to the elections, and also invited Gulshat Mammedova to Moscow. He stressed the special importance of inter-parliamentary dialogue between the countries and the search for new formats of interaction, which would allow solving urgent problems with high efficiency.
