The President of Turkmenistan received the head of the Islamic Development Bank

On September 19, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Muhammad Al Jasser, Head of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), TDH reports.

Priority issues of cooperation were discussed during the meeting. The Head of the Islamic Development Bank confirmed the IDB's readiness to strengthen the long-standing cooperation with Turkmenistan, which is carrying out progressive socio-economic transformations and large-scale infrastructure projects.

Mr. Muhammad Al Jasser took the opportunity to congratulate President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the upcoming holiday - 33rd anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence.

As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted, this September marks the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's membership in the Islamic Development Bank. Over the past period, the IDB has participated in financing more than 20 important projects in such areas as healthcare, education, transportation, communications and energy.

During the meeting, special emphasis was placed on the prospects of cooperation in the energy sector. Turkmenistan, possessing the richest natural resources, is invariably committed to the development of this sphere through diversification. In this context, the possibilities of cooperation in the oil and gas sector were discussed. The realization of this important project will contribute to building up productive economic cooperation not only in the regional but also in the international dimension.

Turkmenistan is also working comprehensively in the field of environmentally friendly clean energy. This provides great opportunities for cooperation with the IDB in implementing projects or new initiatives in the field of sustainable energy in our country.

Transportation was also identified as one of the promising areas of cooperation. In this context, it was stated that there are ample opportunities for the activation of international transportation through the Caspian Sea.

Projects to develop the Internet and telecommunications system and strengthen effective contacts with banks and the private sector in Turkmenistan were also highlighted within the framework of cooperation with the IDB.
