A female athlete from Turkmenistan won gold at the 2018 World Cup

Turkmen athlete Yulduz Dzhumabaeva has won "gold" at the 2018 World Cup in the weight category up to 45 kg. According to the decision of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), she replaced the disqualified Thai weightlifter on the podium.

The relevant protocols were recently updated on the official IWF website. Thai athlete Thunya Sukharoen lost her medal because she violated anti-doping rules. The disqualified weightlifter was replaced by her Turkmen counterpart, who won the 2018 World Cup held in Ashgabat.

Now the girl is a second-year student at Turkmen State University of Physical Education and Sports.

Weightlifting is not an easy sport for women, but Yulduz decided to dedicate herself to it. At first she did it in her native Dashoguz velayat, attending a special weightlifting school. Her uncle Zeripbai Kerimbaev became the athlete's first trainer. Then there was the Ashgabat special school for young Olympians, and then the Turkmen National Institute of Sports and Tourism.

Yulduz Dzhumabaeva improves her sports skills at SHVSMT under the guidance of Honored Coach of the country Akhmed Sariev. It was he who prepared her to perform at the Asian Championship in 2017. Competing in the weight category of up to 48 kg, the weightlifter ended up taking third place. She showed a total result of 165 kg in the biathlon, lifting 72 kg in the snatch and 93 kg in the jerk. An even better result the girl showed during the V Asian Games, taking the second position with a cumulative result of 189 kg (107 kg - jerk, 82 kg - snatch). In 2018, the athlete also performed at the Asian Junior Championships. She won third place with a result of 164 kg (93 kg - jerk, 71 kg - snatch).
