UN High Commissioner for Refugees praises Turkmenistan's efforts to combat statelessness

During the opening speech of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi at the 75th session of the Executive Committee of the Program of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Turkmenistan's contribution to the fight against statelessness was highly appreciated. Vepa Hajiyev, Permanent Representative of the UN Office in Geneva, announced the completion of the campaign to eradicate statelessness in Turkmenistan in September this year. In this context, he noted the importance of the initiatives of the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

Chairman of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan Amanmukhammet Sazakov presented information on the acceptance of more than 32 thousand people into Turkmen citizenship and issuance of residence permits to more than five thousand people.
