May 30, Ashgabat, /Arzuw NEWS/. An exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Independence, the 25th anniversary of Neutrality and the motto "Turkmenistan - the Homeland of Peace and Trust" started today at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan.
The chairman and members of the Mejlis of the National Council of Turkmenistan, deputy chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, heads of ministries and departments, representatives of foreign embassies and organizations, representatives of local and international mass media were invited to the multifaceted exhibition.
Every year on the last Sunday of May Turkmenistan celebrates the Turkmen Carpet Festival. The exhibition featured a variety of handmade carpets, including ancient carpets brought from provincial museums. Also during the exhibition visitors could see products of private enterprises, national textile complex and other artistic products.
Also during the event, the results of the "Bagtyýar zamananyň döwrebap lybaslary" contest held earlier among the fashion houses were summed up. The winners - "Mähirli Zenan", "Nurland" and "Nagyşly Güzer" - were shown on the catwalk.
Arzuw NEWS correspondent spoke to some of the participants in the event. One of them was Lachyn Beglieva, a fashion designer of the clothing and sewing brand "Nur Ýüpek":
I am currently in my last year of study at the Faculty of Fashion Design in Milan, Italy. Women's beauty in clothes has influenced me since my childhood, and I wanted to change the attitude towards sophisticated styles of evening gowns to practical ones. I prefer minimalism in my designs. And the Turkmen ladies quite like it. My main goal in designing and sewing dresses is to wear them several times and not to leave them in my closet for many years. Combining Western and national styles gives an unusual look and retains value for a long time. In the meantime, I plan to practice for a few more years before I open my own boutique.
Since its founding in 2017, "Nur Ýüpek" has been one of the leading domestic clothing brands with branches across the country.
Dmitry Filipchenko - creative director of the art studio "Madi" told us about the new direction in painting. It is called "Art in Velvet":
Since there is no one in Turkmenistan yet who is engaged in this kind of art, we can safely call this a new trend. Considering that velvet is widely used in traditional Turkmen dresses, I am sure that art lovers will soon take notice. It takes about 2 weeks to create a typical dimensional portrait, and prices vary depending on the genre, details and other wishes of the customer. I've been painting for over four years, and my wife and I run a family art studio where she does embroidery crafts. Surrealism and abstraction, recognized worldwide, dominate my paintings and interiors. I love my work and look forward to expanding our art business internationally.
The exhibition will continue tomorrow until 17:00.
