Third briefing on Turkmenistan's international health initiatives

Ashgabat, May 22, /Arzuw NEWS/. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the third in a row information briefing on "Implementation of international initiatives of Turkmenistan in the field of healthcare.

The meeting was attended by ministers (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health, and Ministry of Sports), university rectors and representatives of other government agencies, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Turkmenistan, including 22 ambassadors, heads of UN agencies and representatives of national and 28 international media from 18 countries.

Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov made an opening speech and spoke about the preventive work carried out to prevent the entry of COVID-19 virus into the territory of Turkmenistan. Also, short presentations were made by Minister of Health and Medical Industry N. Amannepesov, UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan Elena Panova, Special Representative of UNRCCA Natalia German and others.

During our first briefings, the experience of Turkmenistan was analyzed in detail and the readiness of our country to share its successful experience with other countries and international organizations was emphasized. Therefore, I would like to inform you that this experience, as was emphasized earlier in a letter by the President of Turkmenistan addressed to the WHO Director-General in the form of a separate information material, was distributed as a document of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly," Meredov emphasized.

Meredov also noted that Turkmenistan's national preparedness and response plan for the COVID-19 coronavirus infection was approved today.

Recall that due to prompt and timely measures taken by the Government of Turkmenistan to prevent the importation of COVID-19, to date there are no officially registered cases of the virus in the country.
