Turkmenistan and Russia discuss cooperation at the UN

The directors of international organizations departments of the Russian and Turkmen Foreign Ministries held consultations in Ashgabat on September 8, discussing the strengthening of bilateral cooperation on the UN platform. Arzuw.news reports with reference to the Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan.

The meeting between Konstantin Logvinov and Rashid Annaberdiev took place within the framework of the Inter-Ministerial Cooperation Program for 2025-2026. The diplomats exchanged views on topical issues on the UN agenda and presented the national priorities of their countries at the upcoming 80th session of the General Assembly of the organization.

The participants paid special attention to the current trends in the functioning of the UN and assessed the UN-80 reform initiative. The Parties stressed that any changes should be thoughtful, rational and aimed at increasing the effectiveness of the organization in accordance with the provisions of its Charter.

At the end of the talks, the diplomats confirmed a high degree of convergence of Moscow and Ashgabat's approaches to international issues. The participants expressed mutual readiness to deepen the strategic partnership within the UN on the principles of friendship, mutual respect and consideration of each other's interests.
