Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held talks with Acting Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Afghanistan for Economic Affairs Abdul Ghani Baradar. The meeting was held today in the Republic of Azerbaijan within the visit of the Turkmen delegation.
The talks centered on the implementation of major infrastructure projects. The parties discussed in detail the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline, which will become a key energy corridor in the region.
The participants of the meeting also discussed the prospects for the construction of power transmission lines and fiber-optic communication along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) route. These projects are designed to strengthen transportation and communication interaction between the countries.
During the talks, the sides touched upon a wide range of issues of political and diplomatic, trade and economic cooperation. Special emphasis was placed on the development of energy partnership between the two states.
The meeting confirmed the mutual interest of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan in deepening bilateral cooperation and realization of strategically important regional projects.
