In the framework of the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Head of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed the initiative to establish the UN Regional Center for Climate Change Technologies in Central Asia. It was noted that the signed Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan and UNEP plays a special role in addressing climate issues. Within the framework of the document, programs on climate technologies are being developed for Turkmenistan and Central Asian countries. The Turkmen leader noted that this document is a legal basis for the establishment of the UN Regional Center for Climate Technologies in Central Asia. It was also emphasized that the establishment of the Center in the Central Asian region, which is in the zone of environmental risks, is an important initiative with great prospects.
