Turkmenistan Participates in Discussions on the Creation of a Common Turkic Alphabet

Linguistic scientists from Turkmenistan took part in a seminar dedicated to the common alphabet of the Turkic world and the 90th anniversary of Language Day.

The seminar was held in the Turkish city of Bursa and was chaired by Gürer Gülsevin, head of the Turkish Language Society. It was also attended by the head of the Council of Elders of the OTG, Deputy Chairman of the Justice and Development Party of Turkey Binali Yildirim, scholars from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Hungary.

Workshop participants presented information about their alphabets and the historical linguistic processes taking place in their countries.
As a result of the event, a decision was made to form a Commission to create a unified alphabet and submit it to the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) for consideration.
