Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan will create a new transport corridor

Avaza prepares to host UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries

A trilateral summit meeting was held in Avaza National Tourist Zone with participation of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. Arzuw.news reports citing a source.

The heads of state discussed the development of multilateral cooperation in trade and economic, transport and communications, energy and humanitarian spheres. They paid special attention to the creation of a sustainable transcontinental corridor that would link China, South Asia, the Middle East and Europe by utilizing the transit potential of the three countries.

The President of Uzbekistan congratulated the National Leader of the Turkmen people on the success of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.

During the talks, the parties noted the importance of the PRC-Uzbekistan railroad and Trans-Afghanistan Corridor projects. Plans for the development of the Middle Route, including the Zangezur corridor, were supported.

The meeting participants put forward proposals to expand the capacity of Turkmenbashi and Baku ports, create modern logistics infrastructure and digitalize procedures. Uzbekistan expressed readiness to reduce tariffs for cargo transportation and expressed interest in creating its own ferry capacities on the Caspian Sea.
