Turkmenistan's national chess team under the leadership of coach Shakhrukh Turaev is taking part in the World Team Championship in Blitz and Rapid in Astana. This is reported by the Internet edition "AsmanNews.
The Turkmen team included Meylis Annaberdyev, Vepaly Khalynyazov, Shahrukh Turaev, Meriem Agadjanova and Muhammad Ezizov. A total of 315 best chess players, including world champions, are taking part in the tournament.
The World Championship began on August 1 at the Astana Congress Center. In the period from August 2 to 4, 12 rounds of Rapid will be held, and from August 5 the two-stage Blitz Championship will start. The World Chess Championship will last until August 6. Medals will be played among the top three teams in each category. In the team championship, matches are played on six boards with mandatory participation of a woman and an amateur with a rating below 2000.
