Turkmen scientists seek ways to combat soil salinization

Scientists at the biotechnology laboratory of the Technology Center of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan together with the Turkmen State University named after Makhtumkuli and the Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute named after S. Seidi are developing ways to increase land fertility and combat soil salinization. This is reported by the Internet publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".

Natural and secondary soil salinization under irrigated agriculture is one of the reasons accelerating desertification process. Soil salinity adversely affects land fertility and depresses plant growth and development.

Currently, scientists are conducting research on the development of organic fertilizers from plant raw materials. Such biocomposting solves several problems at once: effective fight against soil salinization, retention of moisture in the soil, increasing soil stability and increasing the fertility of the land. Biocomposting uses bacteria and fungi that accelerate the favorable process.

So far, the prepared fertilizer has already been tested, after which the soil showed higher fertility values compared to the control sample.
