For the first time in the country's history, a Turkmen athlete became the champion of the U-20 World Youth Championship in freestyle wrestling. Turkmen wrestler Alp Arslan Begenjov won the gold medal of the championship, which was held from September 2 to 8 in Spain. This is reported by the Internet edition "Westiabad."
The Turkmen wrestler competed in the weight category up to 79 kg, brilliantly passing all stages. On his way to "gold" Alp Arslan defeated Mahdi Yousefihajivar from Iran with the score 10:0, in the 1/8 finals - over Oleksandr Mamrosch from Ukraine with the score 10:0, in the quarterfinals the athlete from Turkmenistan defeated Dmitry Lukashchuk from Belarus with the score 10:0, in the semifinals he defeated Amit Amit from India with the score 11:0, and in the final he defeated American Zachary D Ryder with the score 5:0.
A total of 28 athletes competed for the gold medal. The U-20 Championship was held from September 2 to 8 in Pontevedra, Spain. The tournament gathered young talented wrestlers from all over the world.
