According to the results of the World Junior Weightlifting Championships in Leon, Turkmen weightlifter Shahzadbek Matyakubov won three gold medals in each exercise and the sum of the two-round competition with a junior world record in the jerk. The Turkmen athlete performed in the weight category up to 102 kg, realizing five approaches out of six. Medals in this category were contested by 13 athletes from 11 countries. In snatch, Shahzadbek lifted 170 and 175 kg barbells in the first two approaches and failed to lift 180 kg barbell in the third approach. After the first two lifts, he was 6 and 7 kg ahead of his nearest rivals in the standings. In the jerk, the Brazilian athlete set a world record, which was immediately broken by the Turkmen weightlifter, successfully lifting 205, 210 and 216 kg.
According to the results of the World Championship, Shahzadbek was awarded three gold medals and the title of "Best Weightlifter among Men".
