Russia and UN consultations held in Ashgabat

Director of the Department of International Organizations of the Russian Foreign Ministry Konstantin Logvinov held consultations with Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Central Asia Kakha Imnadze in Ashgabat on September 8. The sides discussed a wide range of regional issues, including the fight against terrorism and extremism, anti-drug cooperation, transboundary water management and youth issues.

The Russian side expressed support for the work of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia. The participants of the meeting noted the important role of the Center in maintaining stability and security in the region.

Special attention was paid to the need to continue the Centre's interaction with regional organizations - CIS, CSTO and SCO.
