In memory of the great opera singer, who would have turned 100 years old on May 1, the Musical Drama Theater named after Makhtumkuli hosted a musical evening-dedication. Makhtumkuli Music and Drama Theater held a musical evening-dedication. The concert opened with a beautiful performance of an excerpt from the opera "Leili and Majnun". Throughout the evening, arias from leading representatives of the classical school sounded in the hall.
The special atmosphere on the stage was created by a video about the creative history of M. Kuliyeva. The founder of opera art in Turkmenistan passed a long way from an orphan girl who did not know musical literature to the leading soloist of the Makhtumkuli Opera and Ballet Theater, who received the status of People's Artist of the USSR in 1955. In 2009, Maya Kulieva received the title of Hero of Turkmenistan for her invaluable work in the development of the arts. Maya Kulieva died on April 27, 2018.
The stars of the Turkmen opera performed on stage on the memorable evening. People's Artists of Turkmenistan: G. Nuryeva, A. Berdyev, A. Garyagdyev, M. Bayramgeldyev and Honored Artists of Turkmenistan: I. Jumayev, A. Kuliyeva, G. Ovezova and others. Arias once sung by the vocalist herself were performed: "Zohre and Tahir", "Aina", "Shasenem and Garib", "Kemine and kazy".
In the theater lobby were placed the belongings of Maja Kulieva, provided by the museum, opened in 2019 at the Turkmen National Conservatory, which bears the name of the great opera diva.
